The CID of the Jharkhand Police today launched simultaneous inquires at 38 NGOs in and around Ranchi in connection with their receiving funds through the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA), a senior official said.
Separate inquiries are also on for Non-government Organisations (NGOs) outside the state capital, Additional Director General of Police (CID) Ajay Kumar Singh said.
"Inquiries are going on relating to FCRA on NGOs," Additional Director General of Police (CID) Ajay Kumar Singh told PTI.
CID sources said the probe teams would check various documents of the NGOs such as bank account details of past five years, email communications regarding funds from foreign countries, donors list and cash book.
Reports of purchase committees, various travel and field reports would also be examined, the sources said.
The central government informed the Lok Sabha on March 20 that it has barred nearly 5,000 NGOs across the country from receiving foreign funding after cancellation of their FCRA licences for violating rules since April 2017.
