Six CID officials accused of handcuffing main accused Dr Vinayak Prasanna in a case relating to alleged irregularities in the medical PG entrance test in January 2011, have been granted bail by a local court.

The officials were accused of humiliating Prasanna in front of his students and violating his human rights, following which he had filed a petition in the Bellary court.

The High Court had earlier rejected the petition filed by the officials to turn down the plea of Prasanna in the lower court, which was also asked to go ahead with the hearing.

Following this, retired CID Dy SP Chalapati, Inspector Jagannath, and others had moved a bail application in the local court, which yesterday granted their plea and posted the next hearing to July 23.
