The Inspector General of Police (IG), CID, Arvind Pandey has been entrusted with probe into Navrupa missing case, the sources said.

The 12 year-old girl had gone missing from her house located on Jawahar Lal Nehru road under Town police station area since September 18 last year, they said.

The missing girl's parents Atulya and Maitreyi Chakravarti have demanded a CBI probe in the matter, but have refused to blood samples for matching with the DNA test of a skeleton recovered from the Chakravarti's home on November 26 last.

The Muzaffarpur police had subsequently filed a petition in the local court with a prayer that the missing girl's parents be directed to give blood sample for carrying out the DNA test of the skeleton and the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) S.P. Singh passed an ordered on January four last in favour of the prayer by the police.

However, the parents of the missing girl have not yet given their blood samples despite requested twice by the police, the sources said.

Meanwhile, the IG (CID) has requested Navrupa's parents to cooperate with the police and give blood samples to enable a impartial and transparent probe in the matter.
