A senior officer of the Duncans Industries Limited met CID sleuths today as the investigating agency initiated a probe into the alleged non-payment of wages to workers at the company's Bagrakot tea garden in north Bengal.
According to CID sources, Duncan Industries' Wholetime Director M H Chinoy submitted documents related to the issue during his four-hour-long meeting with CID officers at Bhavani Bhavan.
"There are some misunderstanding regarding the payments issue.. There were some outstanding payments. We showed to them (CID) what's outstanding," Chinoy said after meeting the CID officers.

Chinoy said that because both Goenka and his son were abroad, they could not meet CID sleuths.
Investigating officers, however, have insisted that Duncan Industries owner industrialist G P Goenka and his son should come and meet them instead of sending other officers of the company.
Talking to reporters, Inspector General (II) CID Vineet Kumar Goyal said, "The dues to the workers including certain allowances and wages have not been paid for past few months. A police case was initiated earlier on the matter and now CID has taken up the investigation."
"We have registered a case against G P Goenka and his son under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code," he added.
