The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) today hailed Himachal Pradesh government's efforts in simplifying procedures to apply for electricity connections and thus improving ease of doing business.

"As we are aware that the government of Himachal Pradesh has been making constant efforts to ease the process of doing business in the state, abolishing obtaining affidavits and introducing self-certification will further help the business community," said Sanjay Khurana, Chairman, CII Himachal Pradesh State Council, in a press release here on Sunday.

"The no-objection certificate for power connection which was earlier required from the Industries Department, the Pollution Control Board and the Fire Department has been abolished and is required only for planning areas."

He is of the view that the simplification process will contribute significantly to increasing business, attracting investments and bringing in development of the hill state.

"It will act as a milestone decision which will go a long way in making Himachal Pradesh an attractive industrial destination," said Rajesh Saboo, Vice-Chairman, Himachal Pradesh State Council.
