CII launches IWN in West Bengal on International Women's Day

To commemorate the International Women's Day today, the Confederation of Indian Industry launched a forum called Indian Women Network in West Bengal.

The chairperson of the CII, West Bengal's state council, Smita Pandit Chakraborty, said that the IWN would have women in industry, education and faculty in higher educational institutions as target groups.

"Entrepreneurs and independent professionals will also form part of the CII-IWN target audience," She explained.

The core areas will comprise policy advocacy,learning and development, health and well-being, while fundamental objectives will include awareness building, learning and implementation.

As to learning and development for industry and professionals, IWN would help freshers transition from being a student to a successful professional, she said.
 

IWN would conduct sessions to enhance communication and soft skills of young professionls, she said.

For the women belonging to the middle management, IWN would conduct sessions periodically organized on a variety of management topics, CII sources said.

As for senior managers, IWN would use its vast resources to mentor them on leadership and conduct executive coaching.

At the launch, Paromita Mitra Bhaumik, a practicing psychologist, conducted a session on how today's multi-tasking women could strike a better balance between work and home, fight obstacles, prevent ailments - physical, mental and emotional - and stay healthy.
