Noted businessmen Yusuf Hamied and Cyrus Poonawalla have been presented awards instituted by an industry association for their immense contribution to various corporate fields.

Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao presented the CHEMTECH 'Hall of Fame' Award to Hamied, Chairman of Cipla Group, and 'Lifetime Achievement Award' to Poonawalla, CMD of Serum Institute of India, at a function here yesterday.

Six individuals and four corporates were also presented the CHEMTECH Leadership & Excellence Awards, an official from Raj Bhavan said today.

Past recipients of the CHEMTECH awards include top corporate leaders like Dhirubhai Ambani, Ratan Tata, Aditya Vikram Birla, Darbari Seth and A M Naik.

Lifetime Achievement Award is given to individuals who are institutions within themselves apart from the institutions they represent. The award is our way of paying homage to individuals for their monumental contribution to the industry during their whole career span, CHEMTECH Foundation said on its website.

Hall of Fame Award recognises the individuals who brave odds and dare to tread new paths. The award applauds the pioneering efforts of those who have not only propelled the growth of their own organisations but also paved the pathway for progress of a wide spectrum of downstream chemicals industry and allied sectors, it added.
