Circle Officer arrested on graft charge

The vigilance department sleuths today arrested a Circle Officer (CO) Raman Rai on graft charge from Bihar's West Champaran district, an official release said.

Acing on a complaint, a Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) T P Yadav laid a trap and arrested Rai, the CO of Sikta Circle, as soon as he took Rs 20,000 as bribe at his official residence from one Surendra Prasad Yadav, the release said.

Rai had demanded the bribe to release arrear in lieu of salary hike to Yadav, who subsequently lodged a complaint with the vigilance department, it said.
 

The tainted CO was being brought to the regional vigilance office at Muzaffarpur for interrogation before his production at a designated court for judicial remand, the release added.
