CISF chief O P Singh today took a Delhi Metro ride and reviewed security arrangements in the wake of heightened vigil in such public places due to the ongoing festive season.
The Director General (DG) of the paramilitary force travelled from the Race Course station to the heavy footfall receiving Rajiv Chowk on the Yellow Line, during which he also interacted with commuters, including women travellers.
Singh, accompanied by senior officials led by Delhi Metro Deputy Inspector General Raghubir Lal, inspected the bomb detection squads, canine teams, Quick Reaction Teams, women commando units, electronic and CCTV surveillance and functioning of special operation groups in the rapid rail network that caters on an average to over 25 lakh commuters per day.

Singh, who has recently taken over the top charge of the force, also interacted with women travellers. They requested him to increase the number of uniformed and plainclothes women commandos (Alpha teams) and also to ensure better queue management at busy stations.
He also asked the CISF security 'morchas' (posts) at the stations to be kept fortified, equipped and alert, they said.
The security apparatus at Delhi Metro, apart from other vital facilities, is on high alert following the surgical strikes conducted by the Army last month across the Line of Control.
