The CISF was today awarded the best marching contingent amongst paramilitary forces during the Republic Day parade on Rajpath on January 26.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar presented the trophy to CISF Director General O P Singh and contingent commander P S Grewal at an event held here in South Block.

The 148-member contingent of the Central Industrial Security Force was recently adjudged the best amongst paramilitary forces and other auxiliary marching contingents that take to Rajpath to mark the Republic Day celebrations.

The contingent marched on the tune of 'amar senani' that was played by the CISF band that walks just behind the marching troops.

This is the fifth such decoration for the 1.47-lakh personnel strong force as it was adjudged the best in 2007, 2008, 2013 and 2015 too.

The CISF is deployed to secure major civil airports in the country and is also tasked to secure vital installations in the aerospace and nuclear power domain.
