CISF personnel have restored a bag containing bank cheques for over Rs 30 lakh to a passenger after he forgot it at a Delhi Metro station.

Officials said the incident occurred yesterday at the Uttam Nagar station when an on-duty CISF personnel noticed an unattended bag at the X-ray scanning machine.

The security team of the force segregated it for detailed scanning and found a total of 25 cheques drawn on a bank worth Rs 30,41,385. The bag was later deposited with the station controller, they said.

"A Delhi resident Anil Kumar later came back to the station to claim the bag saying he had forgotten it at the scanner," Central Industrial Security Force spokesperson Manjit Singh said.

The bag was restored to Kumar after due verification, he added.
