Central paramilitary force CISF, for the first time, will hold an 'all women' recruitment rally to induct them in its constabulary.

The force, which has the maximum percentage of women in its ranks amongst all central police forces, will 'surrender' the male posts sanctioned to it in this regard and induct more than a thousand women under the proposed scheme.

This is the first time that a security force under the Union government will recruit this high number of women candidates in one recruitment rally.

The proposal, prepared under the instructions of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) chief Rajiv, will soon be sent to the Union Home Ministry for approval.

"Yes, we are proposing to hold an all women recruitment rally for constables in general duty cadre. We have the largest women component at 4.3 per cent as of now and we plan it to enhance to 10 per cent as part of government policy to increase women in security and police forces," CISF Director General Rajiv told PTI.

The unique recruitment rally is expected to be held during the period of June-August this year and the force will advertise the exact number of posts in newspapers and other media and communication avenues.

The force, which is entrusted with the task of guarding country's civilian airports and public transport facilities like Delhi Metro, is also observing 2013 as the 'year of women safety' as it has a huge interface with female commuters as part of their duties at these locations.

The Ministry of Home Affairs and Parliamentary committees on Home issues have also laid emphasis on recruiting more women in police forces as this would not only help in gender sensitisation but also help police tackle crime against women better.

The CISF is a 1.47-lakh personnel strong force and a major component of its women workforce is deployed for securing the Delhi Metro, airports, nuclear and aerospace installations where they are tasked to frisk women visitors and keep an eye on possible suspects.
