City eateries to roll out lavish spread on Valentine's Day

With Valentine's Day becoming a major event among the youth in the city, leading restaurants and food cafes have introduced special menus in the culinary hub of the east.

In the city's premier Awadhi destination Oudh 1590, Doodh Gulab Sharbat, Chicken Sugandhi Kabab, Mutton Shammi Kabab, Shahi Dahi Kabab, Murgh Purdah Biriyani, Gosht Kundan Kaliya, Murgh Irani, Subz Makhkhan Masala and Gajar ka Halwa are the chef's recommendation for the cosy lovebirds out on a sumptuous lunch on the day.

Making its presence felt in Kolkata ahead of Valentine's Day, hang-out zone Hoppipola will roll out its sumptuous fare for the gen-next.
 

On the platter will be Chiseled Prawn, Lamb Patty, the New Age Wing Man Chicken, E-toast and the innovative Shepherd's Pie even as foodies can experience combinations like Kaffir Lime and Lychees or Apple and Curry Leaves besides classic cocktails and the whacky Beer Pong and Beer Chuggathon.

In Kenilworth Hotel, the predominant theme will have red and white colours while heart shaped balloon and teddy bears will adorn the interiors to fit in with the mood.

"We will have Poached Scalp, exotic Sushi and even Awadhi Khajana," Jograj Singh Roopra, Food and Beverage Manager, Kenilworth Hotel said.

"Besides the enterprising may step into our restaurant from the open lawn where Valentine's day will be celebrated to savour the Awadhi cuisine 'Andaaz Ae Lucknow'.
In Serafina, an authentic north Italian restaurant, there will be special menu for couples, which will include Red Root Carpaccio with Oven Roasted Onion, Margherita VIP/Pizza Portofino, Spaghett Al Abruzzo, besides two glasses of house wine.

In Glace Patisserie, the eatery aims to give the special baking tips to the adventurous, "We intend to provide flavours and colours of the west, distinct rich taste and a unique 'bake and take' experience with the tagline being 'every emotion has a cake', a spokesperson said.

Besides Long Island Iced Tea and Loaded Potato Skins, there will be delicacies like Shrimp Wrapped in Paper, said a spokesman of Kolkata's first TGIFriday outlet, the global food chain, which has set shop only two weeks back.

"There will also be some surprise elements which will only be unveiled during the occasion," he said.
