A city hospital today sent relief material for the victims of the devastating floods in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly those in Kashmir Valley.
The dispatch comes after the Director General of Health Services (DGHS), Srinagar, apprised the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital management that most hospitals in the flood-ravaged Valley have become non-functional, except for Ahmed Hospital.
Attention was also drawn to the acute shortage of medicines, blankets and food items in the Valley for patients.

It also said that its consultants and employees have decided to contribute one day's salary towards the flood relief efforts. The hospital said that, if required, it would provide more aid and also manpower for the relief efforts.
The relief items sent today have been delivered to the Resident Commissioner at Jammu and Kashmir Bhawan here to be flown to Srinagar on an urgent basis.
