City likely to get an International university

UGC Vice Chairman Dr H Devaraj today indicated the possibility of Coimbatore getting an International University.

Speaking after facilitating professor and students of six departments of Bharathiar University here, Devaraj said that efforts were on to initiate talks with the Central and State Government in this regard.

If sanctioned, the existing Bharathiar University campus might house the University, hich will be a great boon to Coimbatore, a university release, quoting Devaraj said.

Highlighting the importance of quality and consistency in teaching and research, he said only good work with high quality research articles and good proposals alone will earn good credentials to the students and teachers.
 

There were no no short cut methods or recommendations in getting funds or recognition from the UGC, he pointed out.

Devaraj facilitated the departments of mathematics, physics, commerce, Nano Science and Technology, Botany and Statistics for getting funds from Special Assistance Program and congratulated Vice-chancellor, Dr G James Pitchai for getting two awards from the National Taiwan University and National Taiwan Ocean University.
