Police today served notice on BJP MLA NVSS Prabhakar declining permission to a rally which he proposed to organise in support of seer Swami Paripoornananda who has been externed from the city.

"We served a notice (to the MLA) that permission is declined," a police official said.

Prabhakar, MLA from Uppal constituency in Hyderabad, was informed that orders under Section 144 of CrPC are in force and that action would be taken as per law if he proceeds to take out the rally, he said.

The MLA applied for permission yesterday to take out the rally from Habsiguda cross roads to Nacharam in the city, the police official said.

The MLA did not organise the rally.

Swami Paripoornananda has been externed from the city for six months by the police earlier this week for allegedly making provocative statements.
