As the city gets ready to ring in the New Year, Mumbai Police are ready with safety measures including "anti-terror" steps to meet any kind of emergency during the celebrations, a senior police official said.
"We are prepared with our security arrangements including from the anti-terror point of view to maintain law and order in the city during New Year celebrations," Joint Commissioner of Police (Jt CP) Deven Bharti told PTI.
Police will monitor every suspicious movements through a wide network of CCTVs in addition to street policing, he said.

Enough security measures have been taken to keep a close watch on crowded places like the Gateway of India, Marine Drive, Girgaum Chowpatty, Band Stand in Bandra and at various beaches in city.
Plain cloth policemen will keep a constant vigil in crowded places, Bharti said, adding, anti-eve teasing squads will be deployed at crowded places for safety and security of women.
The official said, a close watch will also be kept to check use of narcotics during the celebrations. Boat parties in sea has already been banned.
Police check will be conducted on the roads in city with help of traffic police and strong action will be taken against motorist, who are found drunk and driving, the official said.
Amid concerns about safety of flight operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, police have put restrictions on para-gliders, balloons, high rise crackers, release of lighted objects, kites and laser beams in the Free Flight Zone of airport, said the official.
