A junior clerk of Malegaon Municipal Corporation was arrested for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant, ACB said today.

The accused, Kuvarsingh Ramsingh Saingar, had demanded Rs 20,000 from a teacher of the civic body's Urdu school to reinstate him in service after his suspension, an ACB release here said.

The primary school teacher in Malegaon Municipal Corporation's Urdu school was suspended from service on January 2 this year.

He then approached the Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court, challenging his suspension.

The bench ordered the education board to reinstate him in service on June 3 and pay him his dues.

Subsequently, Saingar, who worked as a junior clerk at the civic body's education board office, demanded bribe from the teacher who then informed the ACB about it.

Later, ACB laid a trap and caught him last evening while he was accepting the bribe at the Urdu school premises, the release added.
