Civic employee caught taking Rs 500 bribe

A woman employee of Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) was allegedly caught by Lokayukta Police for taking a bribe of Rs 500 from a person for making his health card under a government scheme.

The accused has already taken Rs 2000 from the complainant in this regard.

The woman employee identified as Sangita Soude (40) was caught red-handed by Lokayukta sleuths for taking Rs 500 bribe from the complainant Sunil Nayak om lieu of making his health card under the government scheme, Lokayukta Police Inspector said.

Yadav had applied for the health card under Deendayal Antyodaya Free Treatment Scheme for BPL people. He wanted to get his ailing father treated under the scheme.
 

Sangita told him that she will prepare the card for him as she has good contacts with IMC officials and took Rs 2000 as advance from him for the job.

Later, Nayak tipped-off Lokayukta sleuths about it following which a trap was laid and when the complainant gave her Rs 500 as second installment at her residence, the sleuths caught her red-handed.

Police later arrested her and registered a case under Prevention of Corruption Act against the woman employee.
