Congress today said the results of elections to the municipal corporations of Kalyan-Dombivali and Kolhapur and 75 nagar panchayats (municipal councils) in Maharashtra was a reflection of Devendra Fadnavis-led government's misrule of the last one year.

Congress also indicated possibility of alliance with NCP in Kolhapur.

Shiv Sena emerged as the biggest party in Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation while Congress topped the table in Kolhapur.

Reacting to the results, state Congress chief Ashok Chavan said Fadnavis had made the KDMC elections a prestige issue and taken a keen interest in it, but still BJP could not do well there.

About his own party's dismal performance in KDMC, Chavan said the Thane district Congress was facing organisational problems for the last decade and a half. "We have not been able to overcome the organisational issues," he said.

In Kolhapur, where Congress emerged as the single largest group but fell short of simple majority, Chavan said he would speak to his NCP counterpart Sunil Tatkare for post-poll alliance.

"NCP should respond positively," he said, adding that Congress's performance in the nagar panchayats too was satisfactory.
