Government has given site clearance to DMIDC for greenfield airport in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan while a final view on setting up an airport in Jewar would be taken after receiving an updated proposal from Uttar Pradesh, Union Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju has said.
In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, Raju said the Civil Aviation Ministry has granted 'in-principle' approval to 13 new airport projects.
The reply dated December 1 was released today.

He also informed Rajya Sabha that a view on setting up a greenfield airport at Jewar would be taken after receiving a complete updated proposal from the Uttar Pradesh government.
According to him, in-principle approval has been given to the Uttar Pradesh government for a greenfield airport at Kushinagar.
The Uttar Pradesh government is responsible for further progress in the project as necessary action for approval from various departments, project development, including financing of the airport project has to be obtained by the respective airport promoter, the Minister noted.
Besides, approval has been granted for 12 other new airports at Mopa (Goa), Navi Mumbai, Sindhudurg and Shirdi (Maharashtra), Kannur (Kerala), Dabra (Madhya Pradesh), Pakyong (Sikkim), Kariakal (Puducherry), Bijapur, Gulbarga, Hassan and Shimoga (Karnataka).
In a separate written reply, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma said the government has decided not to award services at Kolkata and Chennai airports under PPP (Public Private Partnership) mode.
