Various civil societies and students organisations today appealed to "certain unwanted elements" not to disturb the distribution of newspapers in Manipur and demanded immediate publication of the dailies in the state.
Official reports said representatives of different civil socieities and students' bodies also launched a sit-in demonstration at Keisampat community hall here against the threat to mediapersons and distributors of newspapers in the state.
A spokesman of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union said mediapersons also launched a sit-in protest against the threat to media houses and newspaper distributors at Keisampat Community hall yesterday.
Sources in the media houses said the papers would hit the stands tomorrow morning after the non-publication of the isues for four days from September 1 because some unwanted elements who had also threatened newspaper distributors wanted the dailies to publish certain press release issued by them.
