Taking forward Punjab's battle against cancer, Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences (SGRDIMS) and Research, Amritsar today procured two state-of-the-art machines worth Rs 25 crore for the treatment of cancer.
The institute is one of the prime non-governmental institutes which is empanelled with 'Mukhya Mantri (CM) Punjab Cancer Raahat Kosh Scheme' and has enrolled nearly 6,000 cancer patients till date.
The procured machines- Elekta Synergy Triple photon Energy Linear Accelerator and CT simulator, were inaugurated by Chief Justice of India, H L Dattu.

President, Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Avtar Singh Makkar and Chairman of Sri Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital Trust, Amritsar were also present at the occasion.
Makkar disclosed that Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandhak Committee has provided over Rs 16 crores as aid to the cancer patients till date.
