A clash took place between two groups of people hailing from different states in Mohkampura area here in which some persons were injured, police said today.
A minor incident on Sunday night led to a clash between a family hailing from Uttar Pradesh and a local family in the area and a fight ensued betwen them. Later, a family from Bihar intervened, they said.
Some members of the families were injured in the clash, police said.
An FIR has been lodged in this connection and further investigation is on.
A Punjab-based organisation working for people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh has condemned the incident and demanded a probe.
It has submitted a petition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, demanding a probe into the incident.
