Two groups today fought over distribution of forms for admission to class XI in a high school here forcing police to resort to baton charge to disperse them.

Some people alleged that forms in the Akandaberia High School at Kaliachak were given to those students who did not even have the qualifying marks and a clash broke out between two groups, police said.

Malda SP Prasun Bandopadhyay said a police team went to the spot and tried to disperse the two warring groups.

But the groups threw stones and brickbats at the police team. The police then baton charged to disperse the people, the SP said.

Two constables were injured in the brick batting, Bandopadhyay said, adding the situation was tense but under control.
