In another corporal punishment shocker, a Class 5 student of a government school in Kairkhedi village here was admitted to hospital after she was allegedly beaten up by her teacher today.

Amrita was badly beaten up by her teacher Surendra for not solving a maths problem, her parents said. While returning from school, she was not even able to walk properly.

When asked, she told them that she was beaten up by her teacher. Her legs and thighs had swollen and had marks of being beaten up, her father Narendra said.

He also alleged that the teachers of the primary school regularly beat students to hide their inefficiency to teach and demanded that strict action against the accused teacher.

District Education Officer Dilbag Malik, meanwhile, said he had recieved information about the incident.

The incident would be investigated and departmental action would be initiated against the guilty, he said.
