A class eight student of the Don Bosco School in upper Assam's Jorhat town was knocked down by a truck near Rajabari Tinali on the busy Jorhat Garali-Mariani Road today, police sources said.
The boy, identified as Nishan Chetri returning home from school on his bicycle, was hit by the truck from behind killing him on the spot, the sources said.
The boy, stated to be a brilliant student, was returning from school after writing his annual examination, the sources said.
The mob blocked the Jorhat-Mariani Road for several hours.
