Setting a personal example in the battle against pollution caused by plastic articles and flex boards, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today tore off a flex banner displaying his own picutre while launching the cleanliness campaign on Gandhi Jyanati.
Chandy tore a banner that was put up in Palayam area in the heart of the city while inaugurating the Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations.
The banner, put up by a non-political outfit about a public programme to take place in the city, had pictures of Chandy and a few others.

In a similar gesture, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president V M Sudheeran said the party units down to the grass root level would be directed to shun the use of flex boards and banners.
In a vital decision to check pollution from plastic and flex, Kerala government has already decided to bring in a law to ban and restrict their use.
The Government also directed the authorities concerned to remove all unauthorised flex board hoardings across the state with immediate effect. Those put up with permission of local civic bodies would be allowed to remain till their expiry period.
