Thousands of people today took part in a state-wide cleanliness drive launched by the authorities and tonnes of collected garbage were sent for disposal.
The drive, held in office complexes, markets and residential colonies, evoked a good response and several people, including representatives of NGOs, panchayats, institutions, urban local bodies among others of the state, participated in it.
In Shimla, Deputy Commissioner Rohan Chand Thakur conducted the drive in offices, localities and a huge quantity of garbage was collected with choked drains cleaned to allow free flow of water during rains.
