Clerk arrested for receiving Rs 4,000 bribe

A clerk was caught red-handed by the Lokayukta Police for accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a farmer for reducing the sanctioned load for the tubewell.

Acting on a tip-off, police caught clerk Lakhan Singh Sikarwar the moment he accepted the bribe from farmer Rajesh Singh Tomar at Dimni sub power station yesterday, Lokayukta's Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Surendra Sharma told reporters.

Sikarwar was arrested and released soon after he furnished a bond.

Tomar alleged that Sikarwar used to issue power bills of hefty amount against their electricity connections without taking any reading and later extracted money from them in the name of reducing consumption.
