A Janpad panchayat clerk was arrested today while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a village panchayat secretary by the Lokayukta police in Madhya Pradesh's Jhabua district.
The accused, Gulab Singh Vasunia (44) who is a clerk with the Janpad Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kalidevi area, was arrested on the complaint of Rehada area village panchayat secretary Jamsingh Masania, Lokayukta police inspector said.
Police said Vasunia demanded Rs 30,000 from Masania saying he would hush up a departmental enquiry against the secretary which was initiated after a complaint against him about some irregularities in a construction work at Rehada.

Vasunia has been booked and arrested under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The file related to the complaint against Masania has been seized and further investigations are on.
