Clerk gets one-and-half years RI in bribery case

A local court today sentenced a clerk working in a tehsil office in the district to one and half years of rigorous imprisonment in a Rs 500 bribery case of 2008.

Special District Judge N K Brahme pronounced the sentence against the convict, Javed Noor Mohmed Shaikh, working in Nashik tehsil office.

Shaikh had demanded Rs 500 from an insurance company agent to get a copy of the death certificate of an insurance holder to provide insurance benefit amount to the victim's kin. The complaint in this connection had been filed with Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on June 19, 2008.
 

Accordingly, a trap was laid the same day and Shaikh was apprehended while accepting the bribe.
