A senior clerk, working in the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) was today arrested for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials said.
The accused - Shekhar Nivrutti Kawale - working in the construction department, had demanded the bribe from the complainant, a contractor, for the refund of his deposit amount, paid for a NMC tender, an ACB release said.
Following a complaint, a trap was laid this evening and Kawale was apprehended while accepting the bribe at his office, it said.
ACB officials said a case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered and investigations are on.
