A clerk, employed on temporary basis, in a government-run textile mill here has been arrested on charges of illegally selling cotton waste to the tune of Rs 40 lakh over a period of time, police said today.
Besides his routine duty, Nandakumar also supervised despatch of cotton waste to various places, they said.
A routine inspection brought to light that he had sold 88,000 kg of cotton waste worth Rs 40 lakh, following which the management lodged a complaint against the clerk, police said.
The accused was arrested late last night, they said.
