Close relative of a naxal held by Karimnagar police

A close relative of a naxalite was arrested and a huge cache of firearms recovered from him here today, a senior police officer said.

Thota Ramulu (35) of Keshnapally village of Manthani Mutharam mandal of Peddapalli district is the close relative of Jadala Nagaraju, a surrendered naxalite. After surrender, Nagaraju disappeared in 2012, Karimnagar Commissioner of Police V B Kamalasan Reddy said.

He said, Ramulu admitted that Nagaraju gave him nine firearms and instructed him to hide those weapons, to be used later.

After disappearance of Nagaraju, Ramulu indulged in extortion and used the weapons to threaten people, said police.
 

Police have recovered 50 rounds of ammunition of different weapons, a 18mm rifle, one SBBL rifle, DBBL rifles (3), one 9 mm carbine, one .32 pistol, a 8mm tapancha from his house at Karimnagar town.
