Cloth merchant, wife found murdered

A 70-year-old wholesale cloth merchant and his wife were found murdered at their residence here with robbery being the likely motive behind the crime, police said.

According to police, Harish Chandra Agarwal and his wife Lalita were found dead in the morning yesterday inside their house in Kammu Tola in the heart of the city.

The matter came to light at around 11 A.M. When an attendant at the cloth shop came to collect the keys to the establishment.

The deceased duo were found to have been hit by a five- kilo weight. According to the relatives of the couple, all valuables, jewellery and cash were missing from the residence.
 

A domestic help, identified as 22-year-old Sonu from Bihar, who had been hired recently by the couple, was found to be absconding, police said, adding that a team would leave soon for Bihar for further inquiries.
