Cloves up on pick-up in demand

Prices of cloves moved up by Rs 5 per kg at the local kirana market today due to pick-up in demand.

However, other spices after moving in a tight range on some support closed at previous closing.

Marketmen said pick-up in demand against tight supplies from producing regions led to the rise in prices of cloves.

In the national capital, cloves traded higher by Rs 5 to Rs 855-925 per kg.

The following are today's quotations per quintal:

Ajwain 13,500-18,500, black pepper (per kg) 520-650, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,000-1,090 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,150-1,270.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 655-755, cardamom (colour robin) 605-705, cardamom bold 655-705, cardamom extra (bold) 805-905 and cloves (kg) 855-925.
