After the Congress-DMK alliance stormed to power in the Union Territory, the political circles are abuzz over the Chief Ministerial candidate.

Speculations are rife that senior leaders A Namassivayam and former Chief Minister V Vaithilingam would be the front runners, but the Congress high command is likely to take the final call on the matter.

AICC General Secretary V Narayanasamy told PTI that the question of finalising the CLP leader would be decided by the AICC President Sonia Gandhi.

Namassivayam could not be reached for his comments.

Congress won 15 seats while DMK two as the combine ousted the ruling AINRC which ended with eights seats in the 30-member assembly.
