Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today directed Director General of Police Prakash Mishra to take up with the Delhi Police the alleged gangrape of an Odia woman in the national capital after the incident was raised in the Assembly.

Mishra, sources said, spoke to the police chief in Delhi and apprised him of the state government's concern.

Ruling BJD MLAs raised the matter in the House and condemned the Congress government in Delhi.

According to BJD MLA Samir Ranjan Das, the victim and her elder sister, who worked at a company at Gurgaon, were headed for Munirka in Delhi when they were intercepted by three men.

The men took away the victim towards Shaheen Bag in a car and allegedly raped her after driving away her elder sister, Das told reporters outside the House.

The BJD women's wing led by its president Pramila Mallick took out a candle light procession demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.
