CM inspects site for construction of indoor stadium

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma Tuesday inspected the site for construction of a multi-utility indoor stadium at Dalmagre near Tura in West Garo Hills district.

Accompanied by cabinet colleagues - Home Minister James K Sangma and Sports Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh - the CM visited the site which is part of the infrastructural development programme initiated by the state government in preparation for the National Games to be hosted by the State in 2022.

The high-level team led by the CM also proposed construction of a four-lane highway to connect the Games site with Tura town.

The chief minister also held a meeting with the village headman and landowners to seek their cooperation for smooth progress of the project.

 

Later in the day, the chief minister chaired a review meeting at the Circuit house which was attended by Chief Secretary P S Thangkhiew, Additional Chief Secretary R V Suchiang, Principal Secretary D P Wahlang and other top officials.

Sangma reviewed the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) implementation in all districts of the state.

The meeting also discussed other Central programmes such as increasing Aadhaar coverage through active involvement of deputy commissioners and preparation of the district survey reports concerning with the DMR department.

The chief minister also highlighted the important role played by district deputy commissioners in coordinating with all the departments in the district.
