A United Kingdom minister held separate meetings with Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi Patel and state Law Minister Pradeepsinh Jadeja in Gandhinagar today.

Patel invited Gujarati-origin UK Minister of Courts and Legal Aid Shailesh Vara to take part in the forthcoming Vibrant Gujarat Summit-2015 and shared details about steps taken by her government to empower women through women's councils, agricultural development and the dairy sector.

Vara hoped that just like Gujarat has become a "model state" in development, India too would emerge as a "model country" in terms of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said an official release issued here.

Later, Vara also met Jadeja and held detailed talks about Gujarat's judicial system and achievements, on his last day of the two-day Gujarat tour.

Jadeja gave details about the introduction and functioning of fast-track and evening courts to bring down the burden of pending cases in Gujarat.
