Chief Minister Raman Singh has nominated nine eminent personalities from fields of art, culture, social service, and industry as 'nine gems' to ensure their significant contribution to the 'Clean India' campaign in Chhattisgarh.
"'Navratna' (nine gems) of Chhattisgarh will play an active role and contribute in creating public awareness towards the ongoing 'Clean India' campaign in the state," an official statement said today.
These 'Navratnas' were invited to the Mantralaya yesterday where they were given detailed information about the National Cleanliness Mission and were appealed for active participation in execution of the campaign, it said.

The persons nominated as nine gems are: Swami Satyaroopanand from Vivekananda Ashram Raipur, Padma Shree Pandwani singer Teejan Bai, Padma Shree social workers Phoolbasan Yadav, and Dr ATK Dabke from Raipur, Padma Shree film actor Anuj Sharma, former Captain of Indian Women's Hockey Team Saba Anjum, renowned industrialist Harish Kedia, CEO of Bhilai Steel Plant, S Chandrashekharan and Babruvahan Singh of Jashpur district.
The CM informed them about the programmes conducted so far in the state under 'Clean India' campaign and requested their further contribution to programmes scheduled in future, the release stated.
PHED (Public Health Engineering Department) Minister Ramsevak Paikra, Principal Secretary to PWD and Public Relations Amitabh Jain and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
