CM reviews arrangements for Sanipeyarchi festival

With five days to go for the Sanipeyarchi (transit of Saturn) festival, Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanaswamy today visited Tirunallar in Karaikal district and reviewed the preparatory arrangements for the festival.

The Lord Saneeswara temple at Tirunallar is the only temple dedicated for Lord Saneeswara in the country.

The transit of Saturn from one Zodiac sign to another is celebrated as 'Sanipeyarchi' festival and it is held once in two-and-half years.

The previous Sanipeyarchi was held in 2014 and this time the festival is scheduled to be held on December 19.

The festival usually attracts several lakhs of pilgrims from various parts of the country.
 

Talking to reporters, the Chief Minister said December 19 will be a local holiday in Karaikal district.

More than 350 special buses had been arranged in connection with the festival.
