CM rolls out Rs 120 cr free mixie and grinder scheme

: Chief Minister N Rangasamy today said his government was sticking to promises and assurances given in the Assembly and outside to promote welfare of the people, particularly those in the poorer sections of society.

Declaring open the new department separately created for the welfare of Backward Classes and minorities and also launching the Rs 120 crore free mixie and grinder scheme here, he said his government was covering 3.37 lakh ration card holding families under free mixie and grinder scheme in all the four regions of the Union Territory.

All families covered under public distribution system would be given mixies and grinders in a phased manner and all the constituencies would be covered in the next few months.
 

He said the BCs and Minorities welfare was looked after by Social Welfare Department and now it has been bifurcated to address their welfare. A sum of Rs 21 crore had been set apart for the department for various schemes and programmes.

He distributed mixies and grinders symbolically to some families on the occasion.

Speaker of Puducherry Assembly V Sabapathy, Ministers, legislators and officials were present.

At a separate function later, he launched the free lap top scheme for students who had passed out of government schools in the Class XII class last year.
