Amruta Fadnavis, wife of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, met BMC commissioner Ajoy Mehta on Tuesday and apprised him of a few "high degree clauses" which were hindering women who wished to supply mid-day meals to children in civic-run schools.
She told Mehta clauses like having a 1000 square feet space in the metropolis to be able to participate in the school mid-day meal scheme was discouraging poor but skilled women who comprise various self help groups (SHGs).
"The 1000 sq ft requirement is tough on poor women and SHGs. The BMC commissioner has assured me that a rethink would be done on these in a positive manner," Amruta Fadnavis said.
A civic official said the meeting between the CM's wife and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation chief lasted for over half an hour and the latter assured that the issue would be given a serious thought.
