Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today paid obeisance at the Tirumala hill shrine here and said he has sought Lord Venkateswara's blessings to strengthen the "fighting spirit" of the state for getting Special Category Status (SCS) from the Centre.
The Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had quit the ruling NDA alliance last week over the Centre's reluctance to grant SCS to Andhra Pradesh.
The party has also given a notice for no-trust motion in Parliament against the Narendra Modi government.
He told reporters here that he has prayed for "divine blessings" to strengthen the "fighting spirit" of Andhra Pradesh to get the SCS.
"I strongly believe Lord Venkateswara will bless us and protect the self respect of the state as the divine hill shrine itself is situated in Andhra Pradesh, which has been in a persistent fight for SCS," the chief minister said.
He said that the state had encountered many challenges in the last few decades and eventually emerged triumphant on all occasions.

On the TDP moving the notice for no-confidence motion in Parliament, he said they had done so, after trying in vain to get the BJP government at the Centre implement its promises to the state.
The TDP had yesterday criticised the Centre, saying it was running away from facing a no-confidence motion in the Lok Sabha and termed this a "political suicide".
