Former Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president E V K S Elangovan on Tuesday demanded that the Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to form an all party delegation and meet the Prime Minister on the Cauvery issue and also the alleged attack on Tamilians and destruction of their properties at Bengaluru.

Speaking to reporters in Erode, he said the Chief Minister should get necessary compensation for the affected Tamils from the Karnataka government and distribute the amount.

Elangovan welcomed the Supreme Court directive to Karnataka for release of water daily to Tamil Nadu and said the present quantum of water released by that state was inadequate. At least 30 thousand million cubic feet of water should be released.

He also urged people of Tamil Nadu not to retaliate by destroying Karnataka registration buses and other vehicles.

Elangovan lambasted the Tamilnadu Chief Minister for her 'failure' to meet the Prime Minister on the Cauvery issue and subsequent attack on Tamilians.

To a question he said, a party delegation may meet the All India Congress Committee president and explain the necessity for water from Karnataka and also to instruct the Karnataka CM to take steps to provide necessary water for Tamilnadu.

He claimed there was no vaccum in the Congress in the state after his resignation.

Elangovan said the alliance with Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam would continue for the coming local body elections also and seat sharing would be only after declaring the date was made known.
