CM to roll out free mixie, grinder scheme on Aug 21

: All families having ration cards would be given mixies and grinders free of cost and the scheme would be rolled out on August 21, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said here today

Rangasamy, who will kick-start the scheme, told reporters that more than three lakh families covered under Public Distribution System would be given mixies and grinders. The government was spending Rs 120 crore for the purpose and also for distribution of laptops free of cost, he said.

He said each family coming under PDS is now issued two kg wheat free of cost in Karaikal region and card holders in Puducherry would get the wheat free of cost soon.
 

The free laptops would be given a few days later to students who had passed out of Class XII in the last academic year from government schools. As many as 13,500 students would benefit by free lap top scheme.

On the current student unrest and disturbances in the Central University here, he said the government was constantly keeping the HRD ministry informed what was happening.

He did not elaborate on the subject.
