CMRI vandalism prime accused arrested

The police today arrested the prime accused in the vandalism at CMRI Hospital in the city following the death of a patient in February.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police from Alipore Police Station arrested prime accused Mohammed Shakil who had been absconding since the incident happened in February, a senior official of Kolkata Police said.

The police had arrested three persons earlier on the basis of a CCTV footage which showed Shakil playing a big role in the vandalism following death of a 16-year-old girl at the hospital.

A mob of nearly 100 from nearby Babubazar in Kidderpore area had stormed the CMRI's Ekbalpore premises and broke glass panes, computers and other materials at the reception counter and billing office.
 

The other three arrested in the case are Rakesh Dhanuk (25), Jiauddin Sk (26) and Sk Sony (22).
