Condemning the "anti-labour" attitude of the newspaper managements at an emergency meeting today, General Secretary of the Confederation of Newspapers and News Agencies Employees Organisations (CNNAEO) M S Yadav said the Confederation has been forced to launch agitations because of the "stubbornness" of media barons even after the Supreme Court clarifying there was no stay on the notification.
He cautioned the managements against "testing" the patience of the workers anymore and aggravate the situation.
Yadav hoped saner sense would prevail and the managements would not delay anymore in implementing the wageboard award for the workers who are waiting for a wage hike for the last 14 years.I
Those who attended the Confederation meeting include Madan Tawlar of AINEF, Rajendra Prabhu (NUJ I), Parmanand Pandey of IFWJ, President of Indian Express-Jansatta Union C S Naidu and General Secretary of Times of India Unions Roop Chand.
A peaceful demonstration was held yesterday in the Press Trust of India bureaux across the country as part of the agitation to press their demand.
